NCESSE’s Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP)

The National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE), which I am a part of, has just launched a program that promises to be a unique and exciting opportunity for students in grades 5-12.

From the SSEP program web site:

The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), launched June 2010, provides middle and high school classes across the U.S. the ability to propose experiments to fly in low Earth orbit, and to celebrate that accomplishment with their local community and with national and global audiences.

Phase 1 of the program is a unique and historic opportunity to propose an experiment to fly aboard STS-134, the final scheduled flight of the Space Shuttle. Selected student experiments would fly for 10 days aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour. Launch is tentatively scheduled for November 2010, but a launch slip to mid-January is expected, enabling this student spaceflight experiments opportunity.

Decisive IT is proud to be part of this program and will be handling the web development and technology infrastructure to support this effort. Congratulations to NCESSE and it’s partners on making this program a reality.

Dr. Jeff’s Blog on the Universe launched!

After quite a bit of work by my good friend/colleague Dr. Jeff Goldstein (and a decent amount by me on the back end), Dr. Jeff’s Blog on the Universe is up and running!

I have a feeling that it’s going to extremely popular with a lot of teachers and parents alike. Give it a go and let Dr. Jeff know what you think!

Also, don’t forget to check out NCESSE‘s other programs, like Voyage and Journey through the Universe.

If you haven’t noticed or are a new visitor, I’ve refreshed the look of the site and have actually started the process of re-writing a large part of the content (finally!). Keep in mind that this is not a finished product, more clarity and information coming soon.

Availability updates for September-October

My son was originally scheduled to be born around October 25th but has made the executive decision to be born today!

My availability schedule was based on the original due date and is now completely out the window for the most part. I will be reviewing my schedule tomorrow and over the weekend and should have it worked out by the 22nd.

Availability calendar

Things have been getting pretty busy around here lately, so I’ve put together a calendar showing my availability.

I update this calendar at the same time I update my main project planning calendar, so the information should be very current.

Keep in mind that this calendar only shows confirmed engagements/appointments. Availability can change at any time however, so please contact me before finalizing any plans.

To anyone that happens across this web site, I apologize for the mess. Ideally, one would want to take care of these things before launching a business, but it didn’t quite work out that way in this case.
